Here is what's been going on with a.k.a...

We have been traveling a lot this past year; singing, coaching, singing, competing, singing, laughing, did I mention singing?  We recently returned from Houston, Texas, where we placed 3rd in the Sweet Adelines International Quartet Competition.  It is an honor to compete with the best of the best!

a.k.a...this year will do more laughing, singing on shows, and traveling to sing for regional events and competing.  Please visit our new FACEBOOK page, and stay tuned for our new website.  A CD is in the plan as well!

a.k.a... a little background:

Tenor - Sue Taylor is a barbershop brat who has been singing barbershop since 1976.  She married fellow barbershop brat, Rick Taylor, many think they qualify as a brat pack.  Sue and Rick live in the Harford County, MD area mostly, although they consider I95 a second home.  Sue sings tenor with The Upper Chesapeake Chorus and Harbor City Music Company...because she can't find anything she'd rather do.

Lead - Janeen Summey is also a barbershop brat who started singing lead at a young age so she wouldn't have to listen to her Mom's baritone part by itself anymore.  She is the former lead of international finalist quartet, Heatwave.  Janeen loves singing with the "Stampede Country" band.  a.k.a... loves hearing her sing everything!  She and her husband, Len recently bought a home in beautiful Tamarac, Florida where they are enjoying the DIY projects that go with it.

Baritone - Harriette Walters hails from Long Island, New York, where she lives with her soft spoken (not) husband of MANY years, Mr. Robert Walters.  We think Harriette and Robert's secret to their long marriage is that she isn't home for more than 3 nights in a row.  Harriette has directed the 2009, 4th place International medalists, The Greater Nassau Chorus for MANY years now.  She has served as a member of the Sweet Adelines International Board of Directors and is currently the Moderator of the International Director Education Coordinators and is a very in-demand coach for choruses and quartets.

Bass - Janell Paviolitis is our Queen of Harmony.  She won the International Quartet title with Melo-Edge quartet in 1983, and is currently serving as the Coronet Club President in Sweet Adelines International.  She and her husband, Charlie, live in Florida  and Missouri...depending on which grandchildren they are visiting.

a.k.a would love to meet you!  We would love to be a part of your show or special occasion.  To get in touch, please contact Janell Paviolitis at queenjanell@yahoo.com
