About Upper Chesapeake Chorus

Upper Chesapeake Chorus is a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, learn and have fun. We currently have over 50 singers of all ages, all walks of life, and from all parts of Baltimore, Harford and Cecil Counties.

Performance

The Upper Chesapeake Chorus is an achievement-oriented chorus, consistently ranked in the top five among 27 Sweet Adeline choruses in a region which includes Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.  We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, and at an annual competition. We also perform Singing Telegrams around Valentines Day. We are available to sing at your next function or event. Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of acapella singing. Music education, vocal production and performance skills are a major focus for the chorus.  Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Several times a year, we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.

 

 

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, Upper Chesapeake Chorus participates in the Region 19 chorus competition in Ocean City, MD. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year.  In 2012, Intl Competition will be held in Denver, CO, and UCC will be competing against all other SAI choruses who won their regional competition!

 

Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Upper Chesapeake Chorus currently is home to several quartets, and we are very proud of them! Click here to our quartet section to learn more about them.

 

 

Affiliation

Upper Chesapeake Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
